Employee tax credits and wage reimbursements are provided to employers by ACCESS VR when pre-screened, job-ready disabled individuals are hired. Follow-up services necessary to ensure employer satisfaction are provided. ACCESS VR also subsidizes the cost of training new disabled employees through tax credits and wage reimbursements that varies depending on the training services.

Handy Ups N’ Downs, a consumer-run business that provides employment and training to help individuals with mental illness re-enter the work force in a peer- supported atmosphere so they may become self-sufficient and feel confident about themselves.

Also, contracted by the Fulton and Montgomery County Departments of Social Services to provide a variety of employment services to applicants and recipients of public assistance and/or food stamps. Individual must be referred by DSS Employment Unit.

The Private Industrial Council

The Fulton and Montgomery Counties Private Industry Council (PIC) provide on-the- job training (OJT) assistance to area businesses by reimbursing the company for up to 50% of an eligible new worker’s wages during a specified training period. PIC can also help arrange and pay for specialized training to groups of new employees in some or all aspects of their new jobs.

Project Adolescent Vocational Exploration Program

Two-year after school program for high school students to help define career/ educational goals and develop skills. Must meet income guidelines and be in school. Meets three times a week. Students get paid $3.00 per hour to participate.
