Helping families in Fulton County who are caring for a child or adult who is developmentally disabled through a wide variety of services. Some examples are Respite, Recreation, Advocacy and Support.

Residential and rehabilitative services for adults and adolescents who have a primary psychiatric diagnosis and may have a secondary diagnosis of substance abuse. Respite services are available for adults and in-home respite services are available for children and their families.

Parent Support Groups are for adults who have children with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and develop supportive relationships with other parents. Parent to Parent of New York State is based on the philosophy that parents, who themselves have experienced the joys and frustrations of raising a child with a special need, can offer other parents a valuable resource. Trained volunteers provide emotional support and information by telephone or email to other families who face similar challenges. Whether it's for a new diagnosis, a hospitalization, or a life transition, talking with another family who's "been there" can be extremely helpful.

Monthly meetings for persons and/or families who have a loved one who suffers from mental illness. Meetings are held in Amsterdam at 2414 Riverfront Center and in Gloversville at the Argersinger Building's 1 st floor conference room, respectively on the 1 S` and 3' Thursdays of the month. Come anytime between 4 and 8Pm. No pre-registration required. Support Groups are free and open to all.

Military Family Support Group American Legion Post 701 123 W. Main St. Amsterdam.
A support group for families of military personnel serving overseas has been formed and will conduct an open meeting 7-8:30 pm every Monday. The group's goal is to provide networking opportunities, mutual support and resources to family of military personnel. One of the group's first orders of business will be to establish a fund drive to purchase and ship needed personal items such as toiletries to service men and women.
